Hey guys. I have a 3800x (managed to grab one £20 cheaper than a 3700x) But my Idle temps are around 55-60 Degrees even with a 360mm Aorus AIO. CPU Boosts to 4.3-4.5 at 1-2% CPU usage which is strange. Settings are all default.Idle temps do seem to bounce around somewhat with it constantly settling between 36c and 43c and under load running Prime 95 the processor settles around 62c. Of course it is hard to show any sort of performance increase over the R5 1600 without many benchmarks etc but take my word for it the Ryzen 7 3700x is worth the investment.

Being that a 3800X is a whole whopping 100Mhz faster you would think it could run at the same speed with the same 65W no problem. Might even improve performance with less heat from the voltage.

Admittedly, the 3800x requires more power and thus more cooling, however 50-60C with that cooler at idle is just way to much (unless ur case is an oven or something).
I idle right around 50C, with voltage jumping around 1.45-1.475V. Reapplied thermal paste for no gain, and have seen temps as high as 95C after running Prime95 for only 10 minutes. Using the Arctic Freezer 34 duo cooler. Offset voltage -0.1 in MSI BIOS but that hasn't made much of a difference

Set it from 1.490v to 1.475v and the idle temps now seem to be steadily from 34-36°C while idle. (Reading from 64 and master). I put the voltage back up to 1.490v and according to master and 64 its idle from 36-39°C. Way higher than I expected with an AIO, my 6600k with just about the same aio was in mid 30's low 40's at idle. and during cinebench it gets to about 73-74. Scores are in the 4600-4700 range.
Nov 10, 2020 · The 3800X ran barely higher all-core stock than a 3700X, and already didn't run much cooler than a 3900X. Not entirely surprising that the 5800X is like this. AMD firmware restricted the 3700X in AGESA somewhere after 1004, to have it run cooler and closer to 65W and stop cannibalizing the 3800X.

The temps are very reasonable. Idle GPU is sitting at 42 °C. Idle CPU is around 45 °C. Running the Heaven Benchmark on the Ultra preset, CPU hit a max of 69 °C (nice) and the GPU hit 80 °C. Sounds about right for Windows stock idle. Your idle temp is quite a bit different than mine, but I live in Singapore where the average temp is 30 C, so having a lower idle is not surprising elsewhere. What you should try doing is closing Steam, opening Epic (and minimizing) to see how the temperature readout changes.
